The Legend Of Kuekuatsu And The Moon-

The moon's lonely. Did y'know that? She's lonely, 'cause she had a lover, long time ago. His name was Kuekuatsu. They lived together in the spirit world, and they ran through the stars every night, together, never lovin' anyone else but each other. They were happy together, perfect for each other... But those things don't last...

There was another in the spirit world, Trickster, and he loved the moon as well. He wanted her, and all her powers, to himself. He plotted and planned for eons, until finally he had the perfect plan. He marched up to Kuekuatsu one day and told him to come along, that he had something show him.

So they went, and traveled the earth for a long ways, 'till they came to a field full of' wildflowers. But the most beautiful of all was a wild rose bush in full bloom. Kuekuatsu stopped there, looking at the roses, and finally mentioned what Trickster wanted t'hear 'im say: 'Wouldn't these be a perfect present for her?' Trickster agreed, and egged 'im on t'go get 'em. And Kuekuatsu did. In his haste to please the moon, he forgot something' important.

Kuekuatsu rushed down t'the field, and he picked all the roses he could. In his haste, he kept prickin' himself, but he knew the pain be worth seein' the moon smile at the flowers. He stayed there 'till night came.

Now the moon was runnin' through the sky, confused why she couldn't find Kuekuatsu. But finally, after a long time, she found 'im in the field. The sight of 'im made her glow so bright, and she reached out to him. And Kuekuatsu went to leap up into the sky and give her his gift... But he couldn't. He'd forgotten that once you leave the spirit world, you can never ever go back...

Kuekuatsu apologized a million times over, tryin' to explain himself and make sure that she understood he did love her. She did understand, and she stayed as long as she could. They both cried all night, and Kuekuatsu cried so long that his voice broke into howls. But finally, the moon had to leave him there.

That's when Trickster came the, claiming' to comfort. But the moon is as wise as she is beautiful, and she knew then and there that Trickster was behind this. So she chased him out of her lands forever, never to be seen again.

And during' this, Kuekuatsu had t'change into a corporeal form, as a wolf. Every night he and his old lover see each other, and he cries her every night for hours, singing to her that he wishes he could hold her again. But he can't. He can never touch her again.
